Delbert “Deb” Lee Hathcoat, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home on May 1, 2026. He was born on February 8, 1936, in Craighead County to the late John R. Hathcoat and Effie E. (Stallings) Hathcoat.
Deb was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was defined by hard work, faith, and love for his family. He shared 72 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Wanda Lee (Gatlin) Hathcoat, who survives him at their home.
He is also survived by his children: Kathy (Jerry) Thompson of Jonesboro, Arkansas; Sandra (Eugene) Hathcoat of Jonesboro, Arkansas; Michael (Lana) Hathcoat of Holly Springs, Mississippi; Rick (Rhonda) Hathcoat of Brookland, Arkansas; Daniel (Lisa) Hathcoat of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Rhonda (Shane) Franklin of Wynne, Arkansas. He is further survived by two sisters, Patsy Smith and Shirley Thompson, along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his son, Delbert Eugene Hathcoat; his parents, John and Effie Hathcoat; and his siblings, Cleroy Hathcoat, Dean Morgan, Mary Smith, and Kay Hardin Greenway.
Deb was a man of many talents and strong work ethic. In 1977, he established Deb’s Cabinet Shop in Brookland, Arkansas, and also worked with Frolic Footwear for 21 years. In addition, he spent many years farming, a way of life he deeply valued. He took pride in providing for his family and building a legacy through his work and dedication.
A service celebrating his life will be officiated by Reverend Herschel Richardson. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Woods Chapel, 175 Highway 230, Brookland, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Pinelog Cemetery in Brookland, Arkansas.
Deb will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, and honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren.
